Brainstorming & Christmas Decorating

Brainstorming is such a fun verb! Today, as my hubby and I tried to organize Christmas at home, I did a lot of brainstorming. About what, you ask? About The Great Food Blogger Cookie Swap! I’ve been trying to decide what kind of cookie I’m going to send my cookie swap peeps.

Ideas have been swimming around my head for the last few days. You must think I’m crazy to even worry about it, right? Last year I made Dark Chocolate Cafenela Cookies. I took the time to think about that recipe and the flavors that went together. It took me days to finalize the recipe in my head, and then two tries to get them right. Even so, they could still use some work.

I have a few ideas about what kind of cookies I’m going to make this year, but I won’t divulge any hints just yet. I do, however, need to get a move on, because I’d like to have my cookies in the mail by December 5th! That means I only have 9 days to get this show on the road. and what that actually means is that I only REALLY have 4 days, because my schedule is ridiculous!

Here’s what our house looks like right now. It’s a big Christmas mess!

(I’m not even gonna show you what our garage looks like. Yikes!)

We did manage to get my Christmas village (which is still tiny because I only just started collecting village pieces four years ago) up and one of the Christmas trees as well. If you’d like to contribute to my collection, send me an e-mail at mykitchenisopen@gmail.comĀ  ;0)

It’s the year of our Christmas Star, and we got a BEAUTIFUL one! (My hubby loves to have a Christmas Angel up, but I love the star, so we take turns every year) I did, however compromise this year and offered to let him put the angel up on “Christmas Adam” (the day before Christmas Eve); I’m such a good wife. We went with red, purple and gold color theme for our tree, and the angel just so happens to be a perfect match for the tree.

(I wonder how that happened…)

How could I not compromise with these two cuties?

Now, to tackle the black hole that is our bedroom before bed. It’s such a mess and I just can’t sleep if it doesn’t get cleaned!

Have a great night!
