Ever since my mom came to live with me, I have been gifting her some one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry, because what do you buy the lady who doesn’t really need anything? She has absolutely loved every piece and she always gets compliments on them. And for the past few years I’ve been getting this jewelry from Luna Sumacq; owned by Luciana and her mom, Tula. Luciana and I met by happy accident. She was the photographer at a friend’s wedding and I was in charge of getting her to the venue (P.S. Luciana takes beautiful pictures). My favorite connections with people are the ones that happen by accident, because I know there’s a purpose for every friendship.
Luciana’s mom, Tula, creates beautiful pieces of jewelry from materials collected from all around the world! Recently, I was happily surprised when Luciana contacted me about partnering together to do a giveaway on the blog. I couldn’t say no, because the jewelry that her mom creates is:
FIRST: One-of-a-kind
SECOND: Quality
Luna Sumacq is a brand that I personally can get behind and support. I love that Luciana is so supportive of her mom and that she has continued to encourage and help her with her endeavor in this business. I absolutely LOVE the way that Luciana LOVES her mom!
Here’s their story:
“The story behind Luna Sumacq is that of Tula, a well-traveled, inspired mother, and her daughter Luciana.
Tula’s love for natural stones and materials (such as agates, quartzes, turquoises, coral, freshwater pearls, amber, and more) have made her collect beautiful pieces from the different countries she visited over the years. She finds inspiration in traveling and reading. Tula’s design philosophy is to create unique, memorable pieces and never repeat them. Each item she creates is indeed a “limited edition” accessory that she won’t recreate again.
Her most recognizable jewelry items are showstoppers in a bold array of materials.
Being a native of Peru and an avid fan of anthropologic studies, some of Tula’s designs are influenced by elements of Pre-Hispanic cultures. She updates those elements and fuses them with more contemporary ones to create one-of-a-kind items that appeal to tastemakers.
Tula made a living of handcrafting necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and other silver and gemstone jewelry items. Thanks to her hard work she was able to afford Luciana’s education and a private chess coach. As years passed, Luciana became really good in chess, so much that she became an International Master and earned a full scholarship to study in the United States.
While Tula designs and creates, Luciana provides the tech support and manages the online shop and sites.”
Luna Sumacq is a local business, AND they have an Etsy Shop where you can view and order their beautifully crafted jewelry, so be sure and visit.
They can also be found at the Brownsville Farmer’s Market.
The giveaway will be for this beautiful 24″ Freshwater Pearl with Amazonite necklace with a .925 sterling silver clasp. It is priced at $42.
Isn’t it gorgeous?!
I love the tiffany blue hue of the Amazonite beads.
This piece was chosen because freshwater pearls are timeless and the tiffany blue color is so chic!
