Today marks DAY ONE of Nablopomo 2013 for me. I’ll be “Typing My Heart Out” for at least the next 30 days!
If you found one million dollars in the morning and had to spend it by nightfall, what would you do with the money?
First things first, I would tithe–that would make me a good Christian–but if I FOUND the money, a good Christian would see if it belonged to someone first, right? I mean would God want money that I wasn’t even sure was clean? What if belonged to drug dealers or bank robbers? AHHHHHH!!!! Well, if it turned out the money was “clean & clear” then I would definitely tithe (anonymously) it and then make a GINORMOUS (anonymous) donation to my church. My church just found a piece of land and we are in the process of making it ours. A big donation, like say, half a million dollars would start the building process very quickly.
Legally speaking I don’t know how much debt we could pay off because usually depositing money in the bank to pay off debt requires you to also allow it to clear your bank before you can spend it but if there were no stipulations such as that I would pay off all our debt…credit cards, and our house.
I would put some money in an account for our retirements and fill up our emergency fund. We are taking Financial Peace University right now and learning all about these things.
The husband and I would go and buy two new cars in cash. What kind? I personally don’t have a preference but I know my husband wants a van. We would get a lifetime warranty on them both and pay up our car insurance for a long period of time.
We would by a new bed. Oh how we need one. The one we have is great because God provided it and we didn’t have to pay for it but it would be nice to have one of those Sleep Number beds or Memory Foam mattresses. I’m sure that it would make for a more restful sleep. Maybe a bed that heats on one side and cools on the other because my husband likes to FREEZE me.
My husband also wants a new TV, a bigger one. We have one that does the job nicely now but he has stated often that he wants a new TV.
I imagine that we would also pay off some of our families debt as well.
We aren’t the type of people that feel we need a lot of stuff but we would definitely replace some of our old stuff with new stuff so we wouldn’t have to worry about it for awhile.
The thing about money is that you can do a lot of stuff with it. Only having it for one day definitely limits what you can and can’t do with it but that’s okay with me. Having money isn’t a bad thing but with it definitely comes with a lot more responsibility.
