Try It Out Thursday: Jersey’s Pizza

Try it Out Thursday
Try It Out Thursday is dedicated to recipes or ideas that I find on Pinterest or receive in my e-mail. I tend to “pin” and save a lot of recipes & craft ideas and never try them so I decided that this will help me wade through the many pins and e-mails that I have.

This Try It Out Thursday is dedicated to a new local restaurant.

For those who know me, I love pizza! I could eat pizza for breakfast, lunch, dinner and anytime inbetween. Recently on my way to the store I saw a new little place called Jersey’s Pizza. As a matter of fact I passed it several times last week and since my new stove had still not arrived, my hubby and I decided to give it a try.
I found Jersey’s Pizza very easily on Facebook and saw that they had menu so I looked at that and was very impressed with the prices. They have a great “Carry Out Special” which we took full advantage of. Here is what their menu looks like (I got this menu from their Facebook page)

When trying a new place, I usually call first to find out their hours and to  gauge the friendliness of the staff. When I called I went ahead and placed my order. The lady who answered was very pleasant and she even encouraged me to get more than just pizza. Before we hung up I told her that I was across town and wondered if she could put my order off about 15 minutes. She asked how long before I would get there. I told her that I would be there to pick up in 25 minutes. She said that would be fine.

We ordered the Double Play with 2 Large 2 Topping Pizzas + (Free) 2Liter of soda and an order of their cheese sticks. The order total was $21.09. For all that, I usually pay anywhere from $25-$32 at other pizza places. Needless to say we were very impressed with the price aspect.

When we walked into the building there was a delivery guy (THIS PLACE ALSO SPORTS FREE DELIVERY!) walking out and the young lady behind the counter immediately greeted us. The inside was a cute place with checkered black and hot pink tile. The front of the register area was a chalkboard that had a really cool quote on it. It was a fun place to walk into.
The first smell after walking in was of DELCIOUSNESS! I gave the cashier my name and she said that our pizza was just coming out. Perfect timing! At that time a guy from the back came out to the front. He said something to the cashier and then said, “You’re pizza will be out in just a minute. I pushed making it to as close to the time as I knew you would get here.”  Fresh is best. (I kind of paraphrased what he said but that’s really what I “heard” him say)
We struck up a conversation with the cashier who turned out to be the wife of the guy making our pizza: who was the owner. Jay & Laura are totally sweet and genuinely passionate about their business.

We ordered a Pepperoni and Bacon pizza and a Ham and Pineapple pizza. Nothing too complicated. I’ve found that simple is best when trying out a new place.

First of all, the dough from Jersey’s, in my opinion, is something that I have been looking for. It’s crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. When I say chewy, I don’t mean doughy, I mean it has a great texture. It absorbs the flavors on the pizza so well. I also loved that there wasn’t an OVER abundance of pizza sauce. Some pizza places just drown their pizza in sauce and I do not like that. I like to be able to taste my toppings.

The Pepperoni & Bacon pizza was my personal favorite. I could taste the pepperoni and the bacon separately and there was a perfect amount of cheese. The smell alone was intoxicating! It was also really pretty to look at and there was no skimping on the toppings either!

We also ordered their cheese bread. The cheese bread was basically the size of a medium pizza. It was cheesy and covered in garlicky goodness. It also came with a marinara sauce that by the time we got it home was cold but it was still really good.

Jersey’s Pizza has definitely given me hope! I will be returning again and again!

If you’re in the neighborhood, head over and visit them. You will NOT be disappointed! When they ask you how you heard about them, let them know they got a rave review from My Kitchen Is Open!
