Foodie Penpal April 2013

I took a month off of Foodie Penpal and I missed it so much!!! Lindsay, I am addicted! LOL!

My foodie penpal this month was Andrea from Tennessee. Andrea sent me a box that made me think she could read my mind from as far away from me as she is!

I’m doing Weight Watchers right now and am really careful about what snacks I eat because I don’t want to WASTE my points. She sent me a box of really awesome stuff! Of the six items she sent me, I almost bought three of them the day before I received her box.

I will tackle the items that I almost bought first:

Cheesy Jalapeño PopCorners: (4 points per serving) I LOVE PopCorners! I have loved them since my husband and I first did the Daniel Fast. They are popped and not fried and make for a great movie snack. I had never tried the Cheesy Jalapeño flavor but fell in love instantly!

Pop’d Kerns: (4 points per serving) When I saw these, they reminded me of CornNuts! Let me just say that I like them more than CornNuts as of the moment I tasted them because they were not overly salty.

Frontera Oaxcan Red Chile Mole: (0 points per serving)I love the Frontera sauces! I pick one or two up every time I’m in the store. This specific flavor has never been available. I haven’t tried it yet but if the other sauces are any indication of what this one will be like, I am EXCITED!

Peanuts & Peanut Butter Whole Peanut Bars: (5 points a bar) OOHHH YUM! Talk about a pick me up snack! They are delicious!

KARMA vitamin water: (0 points a serving) I was a little apprehensive about the KARMA vitamin water but when I tasted it, I decided that it wasn’t so bad. I like Crystal Light better but that’s probably because it doesn’t have vitamins:D

Good Eating Salads Book: This is the cutest little book and it is handy too! Since I’m doing Weight Watchers, I know this will help me get creative when I get tired of eating a grilled chicken salad, LOL!

Andrea, THANK YOU so much for your thoughtful and clairvoyant box of goodies!!!

If you are interested in joining Foodie Penpals go—–> HERE

Here’s a detailed explanation of the program:

-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
– Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & UK residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!
